Temple Emanu-El Sound Recording Server

temple_screen

This was a server application that staff could use to record sermons and musical performances, which were then automatically compressed and uploaded to a CMS so that they could be listened to online by the public. Developed for CleverNameHere for Temple Emanu-El, NYC.

The project consisted of a multi-threaded PHP application that used a terminal based linux audio application to record and compress audio in MP3 format to upload to a custom CMS, which then displayed the audio in a Flash audio player. We ran this up on a Dell Blade server with Fedora Linux, audio optimised kernel and packages from Planet CCRMA and a non-standard build of PHP.
